Acquisition Creates Nation’s Largest Roofing Company
Milwaukee WI., July 5, 2005 – F.J.A. Christiansen Roofing Co., Inc. announced the acquisition of SAI, Specialty Associates Inc. The acquisition is part of a larger transaction in which Tecta America Corp., the nation’s leading commercial roofing contractor, acquired the operating assets of the majority of General Roofing Services from Republic Financial Corp. General Roofing, a former leader in the marketplace, completed a re-organization in the fourth quarter 2004. SAI Inc., a subsidiary of General Roofing, is a prominent Milwaukee contractor with over 30 years experience.
F.J.A. Christiansen will absorb the SAI operations and will continue to serve SAI customers under the Christiansen name. Rob McNamara, President of F.J.A. Christiansen commented “As part of Tecta America, we offer the attention of a strong, local operation backed by the financial strength and resources of a large national firm. We can now offer these additional resources to the SAI customers.”
Milwaukee-based F.J.A Christiansen is one of the original companies that consolidated to form Tecta America in 2000 and was instrumental in its early development. Mark Santacrose, CEO of Tecta America, commented "Since the time of consolidation, we've gone from 10 companies to 23 and 15 operating locations to 48 and today are the nation's largest commercial roofing company. Tecta's size and financial strength have allowed us to take on projects such as Milwaukee City Hall."
The acquisition makes Tecta the nation’s largest commercial roofing company with 23 divisions, 47 locations nationwide, and a workforce of more than 3,000 employees. Tecta acquired assets from the following additional General Roofing subsidiaries: Anthony Roofing Ltd, Chicago IL; Blackmore & Buckner, Indianapolis, IN; CEI West, Sacramento, CA; CEI Florida, Orlando, FL; CEI West, Denver, CO; CEI Texas, Dallas, TX; Cyclone Roofing, Charlotte, NC; and Roofers Incorporated, Baltimore MD.
With expanded resources reaching nearly 80% of the nation, Tecta America Corp. will be able to increase its national account coverage. This continued growth follows Tecta’s successful consolidation efforts historically, growing from 10 original companies and 15 operating units in 1999.
F.J.A. Christiansen has been serving the Milwaukee market for over 125 years. Their signature “clean, green” fleet is seen throughout town and the firm is noted for such projects as the historical restoration of Holy Hill Shrine of Mary, the Milwaukee County Courthouse, and the upcoming Milwaukee City Hall renovation.
