
Milwaukee, WI, January 26, 2009 — F.J. A. Christiansen Roofing Co., Inc., A Tecta America Company, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, received an award for Affirmative Action in Apprenticeship for its exemplary performance in workforce diversity in training. The award was presented on January 26, 2009 by the Wisconsin Bureau of Apprenticeships Standards and the Wisconsin Apprenticeship Advisory Council, at its 2009 Biennial Apprenticeship Conference Jan. 26/27 in Green Bay.
“We strive to have the best employees in the industry”, remarked Rob McNamara, President of F.J.A. Christiansen. “Our diversity efforts help us attract such talented people; we’re honored to be recognized for those programs,” added Noe Sanchez, coordinator of apprenticeship training for F.J.A. Christiansen. The nomination was submitted by Mary C. Harrington of the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship, and by Laura Lazewski, education coordinator with Associated Builders & Contractors of Wisconsin, Inc., noting “the employer displays an enthusiastic and diligent affirmative action effort, demonstrating a successful diversified outreach and recruitment of minority applicants.”
